About Bellaire, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Bellaire, Texas is a small city within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown Metro Area, and as of 2010, approximately 17,000 people called the community home. Bellaire was founded by William Wright Baldwin in 1908, and it has grown from a family farm town into a thriving community known for its small-town appeal and big-city proximity. Also known as the “City of Homes”, Bellaire is primarily residential, although some office space is available along 610 Loop. The Houston-area offices of Frost Bank are located in Bellaire, as are the local AT&T headquarters.
Despite being removed from the major attractions of Houston, there are still plenty of things to do in Bellaire. The city is home to an extensive parks system that features the Bellaire Town Square Family Aquatic Center. The Nature Discovery Center is another great outdoor destination, while visitors in need of some rest and relaxation may prefer an afternoon at Belle Therapy for spa services. There are also several popular restaurants in Bellaire, such as Bernie’s Burger Bus, Costa Brava Bistro, and Café Piquet, among others.
Like the rest of the Houston area, Bellaire is known for its humid subtropical climate zone. The city experiences very long, hot, and humid summers, and temperatures often reach well into the 90s. In fact, the city reaches or surpasses 90 degrees Fahrenheit an average of 106 days per year, with some days even reaching triple-digit temperatures. These extreme conditions can lead to heat stroke, dehydration, and other health conditions if the right precautions aren’t in place. At home, this requires Bellaire residents to invest in a reliable central air conditioner or heat pump.
Residents get a reprieve from the heat during the winter months, as temperatures are mild. Average highs in January reach about 62 degrees, while daily lows fall to the mid-40s. Still, there are several days each season in which temperatures plummet below freezing, and snowfall does occasionally make its way into the region. Cold temperatures are definitely a greater concern, and to stay safe at home, heat pumps and furnace systems should be inspected before the start of the winter season to ensure they work properly.
